Graeme Smith, director of the South African Cricket Board, has endorsed Indian Cricket Board president Sourav Ganguly as ICC chairman. Smith's comments were echoed by South African Cricket Board CEO Jacques Fowle.
ICC chairman Shashank Manohar is bidding farewell and Colin Graves is considered a favorite of the England and Wales Cricket Board to take his place at the current stage. The race to become ICC chairman has become interesting after Graeme Smith's comment. Sourav Ganguly has not commented on this. The ICC had earlier limited its presidency to programs only. When all power was vested in the Chairman.
"It would be great if someone like Sourav Ganguly became the chairman of the ICC," Smith said. If a former cricketer is the head of the highest body of cricket, it would be a welcome addition to modern cricket. He has an understanding of cricket. He has missed playing at a high level. Everyone has respect for him and his leadership will inspire everyone.
