Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar quipped that the ICC has successfully eliminated cricket in a span of 10 years. Especially in white ball cricket, he has implemented such rules that cricket is becoming a game of batsmen only.
Former India cricketer and expert Sanjay Manjrekar asked Akhtar if the fast bowlers in the T20s have slowed down. Because often the spinners have a faster delivery speed than the fast ones. Answering this, Akhtar said, "Should I give a clear answer to this?" The ICC has ended cricket. Let me be clear, the ICC has successfully eliminated cricket in the last 10 years.
"I have been saying for years, change the rule of one bounce in one over," Akhtar said. Allow more bouncers. The ICC has given away two new balls and kept four fielders out of the circle. The ICC should ask whether the level of cricket has gone up or down in the last 10 years due to the amendments to the rules. Where is the competition between Sachin and Shoaib at one time?
"I had a lot of respect for him and still do today," Akhtar said, recalling Tendulkar. I have never been aggressive towards him. I used to bowl shortpitch in front of him. I knew he had a tennis elbow problem and would not be able to hit a hook or a pool shot.
