Shashank Manohar will resign as ICC chairman

London, Dt

Former Indian Cricket Board president Shashank Manohar is set to resign after a long stint as ICC chairman. Colin Graves, head of the England and Wales Cricket Board, is considered a hot favorite to replace him as ICC chairman.

The ICC is scheduled to meet on Thursday to decide on the selection process for the new ICC chairman. "We have not made a decision on the election," the ICC said in a statement. The current chairman has made it clear that he does not want to extend his term. They will be helpful to the board for further action.

Earlier, South African Cricket Board CEO and former captain Graeme Smith named Indian Cricket Board chief and former captain Sourav Ganguly as ICC chairman. This was followed by speculation that Ganguly would become chairman. However, it will be interesting to see what stand the board meeting and other board members take on this.
