Vasant Raiji, a 100-year-old Indian cricketer, died on Saturday. Every day in the month of January this year, Vasant Raiji completed his century of life. Then Sachin Tendulkar and Steve Waugh went to meet him on his birthday.
Vasant Raiji is survived by his wife and two daughters. His son-in-law Sudarshan Nanavati said that Vasant Raiji breathed his last at 2:20 pm at his residence in Walkeshwar, South Mumbai.
Vasant Raiji played 9 first series matches in the year 1940. In which he scored 277 runs. His highest score was 68. He was 13 when he played his first match at the Bombay Gymkhana in south Mumbai, India.
Vasant Raiji has witnessed the entire journey of Indian cricket. He also played in Mumbai and Vadodara. Raiji played with Lala Amarnath, Vijay Marchat, CK Naidu and Vijay Hazare. He also wrote many books.
