Colombo, Dt
International cricket was suspended along with the rest of the world due to the epidemic of Kovid-12. The epidemic situation is still the same, yet most countries have been forced to open the lockdown given the economic situation. This has led to the movement to launch a top football league in Germany and later in other countries. In the midst of all this, Sri Lankan cricketers have started practicing.
Led by Captain Karunaratne, the Sri Lankan cricketers worked hard to improve their fitness and skills at the Colombo Stadium. Cricket was suspended in Sri Lanka on May 14 due to Corona. The England team canceled the tour of Sri Lanka due to the state of emergency and returned home leaving the practice match unfinished.
"I think this is the right time to start practicing," said Karunaratne. We have to get back to our fitness and skill levels. We want to start international cricket and we are practicing for this. Sixteen players from the Sri Lankan team are participating in the 15-day training program. They will also start an outdos session from tomorrow. Following the ICC's instruction, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has also advised fast bowlers to take special precautions and pay special attention to their fitness and conditioning.
