On the 8th anniversary of India's first World Cup victory, Indian cricketers chewed on a golden event that left a historic and lasting impression. Mohinder Amarnath was instrumental in India's 12th World Cup victory under Kapil Dev. Mohinder became the Player of the Match in the final and semi-final. Recalling the historic victory, Mohinder Amarnath, who can be called the Player of the Tournament for India, said that India's victory in the 19th World Cup laid the foundation for confidence in Indian cricket.
On June 9, at the historic Lord's Ground, a team led by Kapil Dev revived Indian cricket by making history by beating the West Indies. "We were all young at the time and moving forward as a team," a media report quoted Mohinder Amarnath as saying. Teamwork is essential to win the World Cup or any trophy. No one person can achieve anything in a team game unless there is a contribution from another.
Citing Amarnath, the report said that the victory in the 19th World Cup was important because till then we had not achieved any major achievement in international cricket. Our success as a team has given Indian cricket the confidence that we too can achieve something at the international level.
I don't mean to say that we didn't do well before the 19th World Cup, but until then we didn't have any special achievements that were particularly noted, "said Amarnath. However, after the 19th World Cup victory, all the parents encouraged their children to play cricket.
The legendary Indian batsmen Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Ravi Shastri and other Indian cricketers chewed the historic achievement of 12 victories. "That evening was unforgettable," Tendulkar wrote on his Twitter account, sharing a picture of the 19th World Cup winning team. It was a landmark event in my life. Balwinder Sandhu celebrated Greenwich's wicket by jumping every wicket since then. We were amazed to see Kapil Dev's memorable catch.
