Former India Multiple World Champion Vishwanathan Anand will take part in the Legends Online Chess Tournament starting tomorrow. The 10-player tournament runs until August 5, with current world champion Magnus Carlsen also taking part. Notably, it was Carlos who organized this type of online chess tour amid the lockdown in the Corona epidemic.

The first encounter between Anand and Svidler will be very interesting as Svidler has become the eight-time Russian champion. He has also been a World Cup winner. The event, which will be held in a round-robin format, will feature the best of four matches. Anand is taking part in Carlson’s online event for the first time.

In addition to Anand and Sweder as well as Carlson, Vladimir Kremnik, Anish Giri, Peter Leko, Ian Nepomnitchi, Boris Gelfand, Ding Liren and Vasil Ivanchuk are also taking part in the tournament.

Anand is set to take part in an international chess tournament online for the first time since returning home from Germany. Earlier when he was in Germany, he participated in the Online Nations Cup. Legends Chess takes part in Magnus Carlson's chess tour. The winners will qualify for the grand finale, which runs from August 3 to August 30, and will have a chance to win three million US dollars.
