A complaint of conflict of interest has been lodged against Indian team captain Kohli before the BCCI's ethics officer. Kohli has been accused of being a director in a venture whose two co-directors are affiliated with a talent management company that maintains commercial contracts for other Indian cricketers.
Sanjeev Gupta, a life member of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association, has lodged a complaint with the ethics officer against Kohli. Sanjeev Gupta had earlier lodged similar complaints against other former cricketers, which were eventually dismissed as meaningless and vague.
Gupta alleges that Virat Kohli is a director of an enterprise that has co-directors whose affiliates are linked to a talent management company that manages the commercial rights of other Indian cricketers. The BCCI's constitution prohibits a person from holding multiple positions and Kohli violates this rule.
The board's ethics officer is currently investigating the matter and the situation will become clearer in the coming days.
