Sourav Ganguly is a player and captain of the Indian cricket team who taught the team to fight and win. Cricket Russia has not forgotten the final match of the NatWest Trophy against England in 2002. It was impossible to win amidst tremendous pressure when half the Indian team gathered in the pavilion. The spectators started walking from the stadium and the people watching the live match changed the channel of the TV. In such a frustrating time, the duo of Mohammad Kaif and all-rounder Yuvraj Singh fought and won the final. Enthusiastic about winning the match, skipper Sourav Ganguly took off his T-shirt and turned around.

However, very few people know that Ganguly once died in England. This is about the 1996 tour of England in which Sourav Ganguly was entering the Test game. This is revealed in the book of famous former England cricketer Ian Botham. When a young man pointed a gun at Ganguly, a young woman came and saved him from death. Botham's book Beefy's Cricket Tales recalls Team India's tour of England. Ganguly said that Ganguly and Navjot Singh Sidhu had boarded the train. Two young men and a young woman were drinking alcohol. We were sitting in the opposite direction from them. One in three drinkers was watching the players. One of the youths was inciting Ganguly and Sidhu to quarrel. Ganguly understood the children and did not want to react. He also told Sidhu to remain calm.

Sidhu lost his temper when a boy threw a can of liquor. A scuffle broke out in which Ganguly's glasses were broken and he had a gun in his hand. It was feared that life would be lost in the Cube train. At such a time a girl came in the middle dramatically and grabbed a gun from the young man's hand. Ganguly breathed a sigh of relief after the girl helped him. After the incident, the Indian cricketers avoided sitting on public transport. This was not even reported in any newspaper at the time but Ian Botham mentioned the incident.
