IPL 2020 will not be held in India, UAE and Sri Lanka are the contenders for the host

New Delhi, Dt

A top BCCI official has made a shocking revelation that the 2020 season of the Indian Premier League is unlikely to be held in India. A media report quoted a board official as saying that the IPL may have to be held in another country this year. At present, Sri Lanka and UAE are considered to be the strongest contenders for the IPL host.

The ICC has not made a decision on the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia in October. Due to which no official announcement has been made about the planning of IPL. "We have yet to decide on the venue but it is almost certain that the IPL will be held on foreign soil," a media report quoted a BCCI official as saying. In the current scenario, IPL planning in India does not seem possible. It is not possible to gather so many teams to play in one or two places. In addition creating a safe environment for players and others is also challenging. Even if matches are played in a closed stadium, there will be trouble.

The official added that the competition between the UAE and Sri Lanka is currently underway. Now we have to decide in which country to host the IPL. For this one has to look at the condition of that country. In addition the logistics of the teams have to be taken into consideration.

It is expected that the IPL will be held in the period when the T20 World Cup on Australian soil is being postponed.
