With the help of 21 centuries from Oli Pop and half a century from Butler (2), Broad (3) and opener Burns (2), England scored 4 in the first innings of the third and final Test against the West Indies. Roche was quick for four and Gabriel as well as Chase for 2-2. The response was a flurry of Windies ’top orders. The touring team scored 12 for six at the end of the second day's play.

The Windies did not have a good start and when opener Brathwaite was dismissed for 1 off the fourth ball of the second over, the Windies had 1 run on the score. Campbell and Shy Hope combined for 3 runs. Archer's dismissal of Campbell caused a mini-blow to the Windies, who lost six wickets to reach 110.
