Opener Blackwood took full advantage of the three surviving donations to help the West Indies win the first Test of the series by four wickets in a 'bio-secure' environment against England amid a Corona epidemic. The Windies fell to 3/4 at one stage against a target of 200 to win, although they fought back to take a 1-0 lead in the series at 200 for six in 4.5 overs and open the account in the ICC Test Championship.
Having a disappointing start for Stokes, who is captaining in Rutt's absence. However, he justified his decision to bat after winning the toss and not to include Broad in the playing XI. Chase scored 4 and Doverich scored 20 for the West Indies. Campbell (3 *) and Holder (18 * off 3 balls), who returned after retiring from injury, put on an unbeaten 11 to lead the team to victory. Archer took three and Stokes two.
Earlier, West Indies had scored 214 runs against England's 203. In reply, West Indies got a target of 200 in England's second innings of 215. West Indies' Gabriel was named Player of the Match for taking five wickets in the second innings and a total of eight in the match. The second Test of the series will start on July 19 at a closed stadium in Manchester without spectators. England captain Rutte is expected to make a comeback.
