The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to host a farewell match for former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who has recently announced his retirement from international cricket. In the meantime, only Dhoni's approval is awaited. The board will talk to Dhoni during the next IPL and then decide on the next schedule accordingly.
"Currently, there is no international series," a BCCI official said. Maybe after IPL we should see what can be done because Dhoni has done a lot for the country and he deserves this honor. We always wanted a farewell match for him but Dhoni is a different player. No one thought about it when he announced his retirement.
The official said he would talk to them during the IPL and it would be the right place to get their opinion about the match or series. But there will be a proper honor ceremony for him whether he agrees with it or not. It would be an honor for us to honor them.
