Seventh-ranked all-rounder Chris Vokes hit an unbeaten six and a crucial 16-run partnership with Butler (2) helped England to a thrilling three-wicket victory in the first Test against Pakistan. England surpassed the target of 7 to win by losing seven wickets in 4.1 overs. With this, England took a 1-0 lead in the series.

England were bowled out for 212 against Pakistan's score of 9. Pakistan were bowled out for 10 in the second innings after scoring 104 runs. Due to which England got the target of 7.
