While the black rights movement is at its peak in the United States, the incident of six rounds of police firing on an unarmed black man in Kenosha, Wisconsin, has taken a serious turn. A man named Jacob Black has been paralyzed from the waist down due to police firing. Following the incident, players in the US, including basketball, football and baseball, dropped their matches in protest of police brutality against blacks.

The NBA's Milwaukee Bucks team decided to drop the match. After which the NBA has had to postpone three playoff matches. Three major league baseball matches were dropped and five major league soccer matches were postponed. Tennis player Naomi Osaka also withdrew from the match. "Being a black man is more important to me than winning a tennis match," he said.

NBA top superstar LeBron James expressed serious concern over the incident and called for the NBA to complete the entire season early. Most of the players in the NBA are of African descent. This was followed by a meeting of the players and team owners as well as other parties. The Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers voted in favor of an early end to the season. LeBron James appealed to all team owners to clarify their views on social justice reform and he was leaving the ongoing meeting.
