Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has decided to retire from international and domestic cricket in 2019. But now he wants to return to the field. He wants to play T20 for Punjab as a domestic cricketer and has also written to BCCI president Saurabh Ganguly seeking his approval.
Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) secretary Puneet Bali was the first to propose Yuvraj Singh to retire for the benefit of Punjab cricket. "Initially, I was not sure about accepting the offer," Yuvraj said. I stopped playing domestic cricket, although I wanted to continue playing in other domestic franchise leagues around the world if I got BCCI approval.
Yuvraj said his decision to retire was not an easy one but he wanted to further contribute to Punjab winning trophies. UVA explained the reason, what their future plans are and now they are waiting for BCCI approval, which is being considered as a formality.
In fact, Yuvraj had no such intention before but during the lockdown, Yuvraj spent a lot of time with young Punjab cricketers Abhishek Sharma, Prabhasimran Singh and Anmol Press Singh at the PCA's Mohali Stadium. The three cricketers are associated with different teams in the IPL and Yuvraj held many long net sessions with them and helped them prepare for the IPL.
