The match played on Sunday in Abu Dhabi, the 13th season of the IPL T20 cricket tournament, was very exciting. The Kolkata Knight Riders beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Super Over after a tough contest. After tying the match in the allotted overs, Kolkata recorded a brilliant victory in the super over.
Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bat first. Kolkata scored 163 for five in the allotted 20 overs. In response, despite captain David Warner's combative innings, Hyderabad could only manage 163 for six in 20 overs. Due to which the match was tied.
Man of the Match Loki Ferguson
Man of the Match Loki Ferguson performed brilliantly. He was the first 3 wickets fast in the first regular match and fielded vigorously. David Warner and Abdul Samad were then dismissed in the super over. Which gave KKR a target of just 3 runs. Thus Loki took a total of 5 wickets in the match.
David Warner's attempt failed
Hyderabad captain David Warner tried hard and played till the end. Hyderabad needed 2 runs to win on the last ball but Warner could only take one run off the ball of Andre Russell and the match went into super over. Warner scored 47 off 33 balls with the help of 5 fours.
He was followed by Johnny Bairstow (36) and Abdul Samad (23). Kolkata fast bowler Loki Ferguson took 3 wickets while Varun Chakraborty, Shivam Mavi and Pat Cummins took 1-1 wickets.
In the 35th match of IPL-13 against Kolkata, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner decided to field first after winning the toss. Kolkata lost 5 wickets in 20 overs and scored 163 runs.
Hyderabad's 4 wickets fell for 82 runs
Hyderabad were bowled out for 82 in the fourth over when Ferguson bowled Manish Pandey (6). Manish wanted to play this long ball, but beat him and the ball went straight to the wicket. This was Ferguson's third wicket.
Karthik and Morgan's half-century partnership
KKR opener Shubhaman Gill top-scored with 36, while captain Eoin Morgan, who was dismissed on the last ball, contributed 34 runs. Morning and former captain Dinesh Karthik (29 *) shared a 58-run stand for the 5th wicket. Karthik returned unbeaten with 2 fours and 2 sixes off 14 balls, while Morgan hit 3 fours and 1 six off 23 balls.
