Virender Sehwag, who is regarded as one of the most aggressive batsmen in Indian cricket, was batting similarly in Test cricket. He has scored two triple centuries in his Test career and once he was dismissed for 295.
Sehwag's fans expected him to break Brian Lara's 400-run record once but Sehwag could not do so. Now Sehwag himself says that the captains of two of the eight teams currently playing in the IPL have the potential to break Lara's record. According to Sehwag, David Warner and Rohit Sharma can do it.
West Indies great Brian Lara scored an unbeaten 400 in an innings in a Test against England in Antigua in April 2004. He was at the crease for 778 minutes at the time, hitting 400 off 582 balls. In addition to 43 fours, there were four sixes.
These two players can break Lara's record
Asked about this during Virender Sehwag's special show, Sehwag said that two batsmen, David Warner and Rohit Sharma, have the ability to surpass Lara's record of 400 runs.
One of Sehwag's fans on the show asked, "We thought you would break this record but now who can break it?" "Brother, I thought I would do it but I was not lucky as I was always in a hurry to get back to the dressing room," Sehwag said. But I think if Rohit Sharma gets a day and a half in a Test match, he will score 400 runs.
