If more players are infected this time around, will the IPL be canceled? Learn

Mumbai, Ta. March 25, 2022, Friday

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season is going to be a bit different in India, which is taking place in the midst of the Corona transition. The BCCI has a number of plans in place to combat the transition to Corona and make the tournament a success. The season is set to begin on March 26 and the final will be played on May 29.

The opening match will be between defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The IPL was suspended on May 4, 2021 after several cases of Corona transition were reported last year. The second half was played in the UAE. What will be the plan if similar cases come up this time too? Let us know ..

What will be the format of the tournament?

This time a total of 10 teams have been divided into two groups. All the teams will play 14-14 matches against each other. Thus a total of 70 matches will be played in the group stage. This will be followed by 4 playoff matches, including the final. All group stage matches are to be played at MCA Stadium in Pune except Mumbai's Wankhede, Brabourne and DY Patil Stadium.

- This way all the teams will have to play the match

Mumbai Indians, who are top of Group A, will have to play two matches each against their group teams KKR, RR, DC and LSG. In the second group, they will have to play two matches against the top ranked Chennai Super Kings and one match against the rest of the teams. The second-ranked team in the group will have to play two matches with the second-ranked team in the second group, 1-1 with the rest of the teams.

- When a player or staff has a corona infection?

If any one player or staff is infected with corona, in that case the positive person will be sent to isolation for 7 days. In the meantime, RT-PCR tests will be performed on the sixth and 7th day. Bio-bubble entry will be given with the team only if it is negative in both the tests. Before admission, it will also be checked if he has any symptoms or if he has not taken any medicine in last 24 hours.

- What if there are many cases of corona?

For any one match, a minimum of 7 Indian and a maximum of 4 foreign players have to play in the playing XI. There is also a substitute (Indian). This is how a team of 12 players prepares for a match. If Corona's infection disrupts the team's balance, the match will be rescheduled.

If for some reason this is not possible then the whole matter will be referred to the IPL technical committee. The decision of the committee will then be valid. Previously there was no process to reschedule any match. At that time if any team could not get into playing-11 then the opposing team was awarded points.

- What else will be new in IPL this time?

This time each team in the tournament will be given a 2-2 review in both innings, which was previously 1-1. Similarly another change is about getting caught out. This time the new ICC rules will be applied. If a player is caught out, the new batsman will come on strike (if the over is not over). The bowler's next ball will be played by a new batsman.

- Will fans get entry to the stadium this time?

This is good news for cricket fans. The Maharashtra government has allowed 25% fans to enter the stadium between Corona. However, fans must have taken both doses of the vaccine for this. In the last two seasons (India) fans did not get entry due to Corona.

- Has there been any change in the bio-bubble?

This time BCCI has made a big change in the bio-bubble of IPL. This time the players will have to stay in strict quarantine for 3 days. They will not be allowed out of the hotel room. There will also be a test every 24 hours. Until last season the players had to stay 7 days. If a player moves from a bio-bubble to an IPL bio-bubble after playing in a series, this rule does not apply to him.
