- Rajasthan Royals bought the leg-spinner for Rs 6.5 crore in IPL 2022 mega auction.
New Delhi, March 29, 2022, Tuesday
Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is playing for Rajasthan Royals in this season of IPL 2022. Because he was not returned by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) before the mega auction. He has been with RCB since 2014 but the team did not return him. RCB has recalled Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammad Siraj for IPL 2022 but Chahal has been released. It was also learned that his team had a dispute with the management over money. Now, however, Chahal has spoken openly on the issue. He said in an interview that the RCB had promised to buy them at auction but the RCB did not bid. No one even asked me about retention.
"I never thought I would play for another team," said Yuzvendra Chahal. In fact, RCB's Mike Hessen called me and said, "Listen, UG has three retentions (Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammad Siraj)." He did not ask me if I wanted to return. He only told me about three retentions and told me, we will buy you at auction. I was not asked anything about money and I did not get any offer related to retention but I will always be grateful to my Bangalore team. I love them so much.
Chahal has taken 139 wickets for RCB
Chahal has taken 139 wickets in 113 matches for RCB. However, the RCB never made a bid for them. Which makes the walk sad. The leg-spinner was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 6.5 crore in the IPL 2022 mega auction.
