Pakistan captain Babar Azam is in the golden age of his cricket career. In ODIs alone, Babur is playing in all three formats. He set a new record of 77 against the West Indies on Friday.

Babar Azam has scored 50-plus in the ninth consecutive match. No one in the history of men's one-day cricket could have done better. Importantly, Babur is scoring runs in all three formats. Speaking of the last 9 innings, Babur played 196, 67.55 runs in Tests against Australia. He then went on to score 57, 114 and 105 in a three-match ODI series against Australia. He scored 66 runs in the only T20 match against Australia. Now Babur is making a fuss against the West Indies. Babur scored 103 in the first ODI and 77 in the second.

Babur Azam has scored 4,441 runs in 88 ODIs at an average of 60. He has scored 19 half centuries in addition to 17 centuries. In men's ODI cricket, the average of only 3 players is above 60. At the top is South African batsman Rasi Van der Hussain. His average is 71.84. Then Netherlands batsman Ryan Doshchett has scored an average of 67. Rasi has played only 35 and Ryan 33 matches.

Babur has scored 77, 103, 105, 114, 57 and 158 runs in the last six innings of ODI cricket. They had a chance to equal the record of Sri Lankan great Kumar Sangakkara but they missed. If Babur had scored a century, he would have scored 4 centuries in 4 consecutive innings. Only Sangakkara has done so in the history of one-day cricket.

Apart from Babar Azam, Pakistan's opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq also scored 50-plus in the sixth consecutive ODI. He scored 72 runs. Imam and Babur maintained a 100-plus partnership for the fourth consecutive ODI.

Babur has scored 9978 runs in 202 matches in international cricket, scoring 23 centuries. He is now just 22 runs away from becoming 10 thousand. Babur could secure the spot in the third ODI.
