The second Test between England and New Zealand is scheduled to be played today (June 10) at Trent Bridge, Nottingham and New Zealand has already suffered a major setback. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has been ruled out of the second Test with a positive COVID-19. New Zealand coach Gary Stead has confirmed this. Hamish Rutherford has been named in the squad to replace Ken Williamson. Tom Latham will lead the team in Williamson's absence.
New Zealand lost the first match of the three-match Test series by 5 wickets. The Kiwis are trailing 0-1 after losing the Lord's Test.
New Zealand coach Gary Stead said: "It is a shame that Ken Williamson has been dropped before such an important match. At the moment we all feel bad for him and know how disappointing he will be. Hamish was with the Test team on the first tour and was playing for Leicestershire Fox in the Vitality T20 Blast. Ken Williamson will now be in isolation for 5 days as per the rules after getting the covid positive.
