Indian men's hockey team beat Belgium 2-2 in penalty shootout

The Indian men's hockey team put on a stellar performance and won the actual match of the Pro-Hockey League against Belgium 2-2 in a penalty shootout. Indian goalkeeper P.R. Sreejesh's superb performance helped India to a one-goal lead in the penalty shootout. Amidst tensions, the Indian players converted all five penalty chances. The team at the top of the points table in this league becomes the winner.

Earlier, the high voltage match between the two teams was drawn 2-2. With two minutes left in the match and India trailing 3-2, Jarmanpreet Singh scored to level the match at 2-2. After the match was drawn, the winner was decided by a penalty shootout.

Samsher gave India the lead in the 19th minute. However , Charlier scored in the 31st minute, Gonard in the 9th minute and Day Carpel in the 21st minute. With the last nine minutes left , India were trailing 2-1. Harmanpreet Singh scored in the 9th minute. With the last two minutes left , Jarmanpreet Singh leveled for India.

In the penalty shootout, both teams converted four opening chances. However, Day Carpel missed the fifth and final chance. India won when Akashdeep sent the ball into the goal. With this, Netherlands is at the top of the points table with 21 points. India is second with 9 points and Belgium is third with 9 points. Tomorrow's match between India and Belgium will be real.

Defeat of Indian women's hockey team

India's women's hockey team lost 1-2 to Belgium. Lal Ramsimi scored the only goal for India. Nellen and Baleghi scored from Belgium. India are third in the points table with 7 points after Argentina (4 points) and the Netherlands (4 points).
