India's young badminton player Lakshya Sen and top women's player P.V. Sindhu advanced to the quarterfinals of the Indonesian Masters by winning their respective singles matches. In the men's singles, Lakshya Sen defeated Rasmus Jimke of Denmark 21-12 , 21-14 . Sindhu, meanwhile, beat Indonesia's Tunjung 6-21, 20-2, 21-11 after a three-game struggle .
Lakshya Sen, a 30-year-old badminton player, defeated Jimke, ranked 17th in the world, in a five-minute bout. The seventh-seeded target will now face third-ranked Chou Tin Chen of Chinese Taipei. Chou Tien-chen of Taipei beat the target in the Thomas Cup last month. This was the only match between the two that he won.
The fourth seeded Indus will now face Thailand's Anthanon. Sindhu had to fight for an hour and 11 minutes to win against Indonesia's Tunjung in the pre-quarter finals. Inthano defeated Scotland's Jillmore 21-14, 18-21, 21-17 after an hour and 2 minutes of fighting .
