At the end of the first day of the first day of the e-auction for the media rights for the next five years of the high-profile IPL, a bid of around Rs 4,050 crore was made for only two categories , sources said. The top companies are vying for the TV season in India and the digital rights of the Indian subcontinent for the IPL season 205 to 206. According to the auction bid, the board is almost certain to earn a total of Rs 108 crore from TV and digital rights in India and the subcontinent alone in the current situation through an IPL match in the next five years.
Now the auction of IPL media rights will go ahead from 11.00 am tomorrow and it is expected that the final decision will be taken tomorrow. It is being expressed that the possibility of raising even Rs 20,000-2,000 crore is being expressed. The current bid is three times higher than the amount paid by Star to the board for the rights of 2012-13.
The media rights of the IPL are divided into four sections. These include the TV rights of the Indian subcontinent, the digital rights of the Indian subcontinent, the digital rights of the 16 play-offs and the TV-media rights of foreign markets. The rights race includes Reliance as well as Disney Star , Sony and Zeno. The next three seasons of the IPL will be played 3-4 matches while bids are being made for 2-3 matches in the last two seasons.
Notably, the base price of TV rights in India is Rs 3 crore per match , which reached Rs 3 crore on the first day. While the base price for India's digital rights is Rs 3 crore per match , which has reached Rs 3 crore. And Package D has set a base price of Rs 3 crore for TV-media rights in foreign markets. The C and D categories will be decided only after the first two categories are decided.
