Uttarakhand: Cricketers get only Rs 100. Daily allowance, also accused of corruption-physical abuse

- Players are asked to ignore the daily allowance when the team manager asks for food online.

Dehradun, Ta. 10 June 2022, Friday

According to the Uttarakhand Cricket Association, the DA of all senior cricketers is Rs 1,500. However, sometimes they are paid Rs 1,000 after deduction and Rs 2,000 after increase. Thus the association gives the players a full meal and it also proves to be very nutritious. The reality then is that for the last 12 months, cricketers have been paid an average of Rs 100 per day.

According to the Uttarakhand government, the minimum wage is Rs 800. At that time, the players who were representing their state in the second quarter final of Indian cricket's Ranji Trophy were getting Rs 100 only.

Revealed in the audit report

The shocking news is that the audit report of the Uttarakhand Cricket Association (CAU) for the financial year ended March 31, 2021 was leaked. The costs, especially the match fees and daily allowances, which are shown in the report are shocking. The CAU claimed to have spent Rs 1,74,07,346 on meals and refreshments and Rs 49,58,750 on daily allowance at tournament and trial camp expenses. Even more shocking is the claim that Rs 22 lakh was spent on bananas and Rs 35 lakh on water bottles. Then the players get only 100 rupees per day as allowance.

Players order meals online

When players ask the team manager about the daily allowance, they are asked, 'Why do you ask this question so often, brother? The money will come ... until you order something from Swiggy-Zomato to eat. ' If the situation is so bad then how can the Uttarakhand cricket team be expected to put up a strong performance against Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy quarter finals?

Allegations of corruption, mental-physical abuse

The mental anguish of the tired and frustrated players after the defeat in the recent match is also the question of when the organization that takes care of the team will give the allowance or the same meal.

Uttarakhand cricket has long been plagued by rumors of mis-selection, league manipulation and financial manipulation. Complaints of corruption, mental and physical abuse have also surfaced during conversations with players' parents and CAU members.
