In the second Test against Pakistan, Sri Lanka scored 315 runs for six wickets at the end of the first day's play with the help of Chandimal's 80 and Oshada Fernando's 50. Dickwella 42 runs and Vellalaghe 6 runs at the crease at the end of the game. While Muhammad Nawaz got two wickets for 71 runs from Pakistan.
Sri Lankan captain Karnaratne won the toss and elected to bat first. The pair of Fernando and Karnaratne had an opening partnership of 92 runs. Mathews, playing the 100th Test of his career, scored 42 runs. Chadimal contributed 80 runs off 137 balls with 9 fours and two sixes. Dhananjaya and Dickwella brought the score close to 300.
