The number of Corona is increasing again in the world including India. On the other hand, the cases of corona positive of players along with the spectators are increasing in the increasing sporting events. Ahead of the Commonwealth Games 2022, India has suffered a blow. Corona has also entered the Indian women's cricket team.
According to a report, another player of the Indian women's cricket team has tested positive for Covid-19 and is staying in India ahead of the first match against Australia on Friday. The Indian team left for Birmingham on Sunday morning but 2 players could not accompany the team.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly had earlier confirmed that one member of the team had tested positive for Corona. Before this tournament, the team trained at NCA. For the first time, women's cricket has been included in the Commonwealth Games (Commonwealth Games 2022). This time T20 matches are going to be held here.
An Indian Olympic Association (IOA) official told PTI, 'Another player has been found to be Covid-19 positive. However, the corona infection has been caught before the players left. Both the players are currently staying in India.
A BCCI source said that according to the rules, both the players can join the team only if they test negative. Looking at the current situation, there is little chance of both players playing in the first match against Australia. India is scheduled to play another match against arch-rivals Pakistan on July 31 and the team will play its last league match against Barbados on August 3. All matches including the final will be played at Edgbaston.
England, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka have been placed in the second group of the women's cricket event. The top 2 teams from both the groups will advance to the semi-finals. The semi-final match is scheduled to be held on August 6. Meanwhile, the gold medal and bronze medal matches will be played on August 7.
