Indian boxers Lovelyna and Hussamuddin arrived to participate in the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games. However , he left the event just as the opening ceremony was underway and left to return to the Games Village. Of course , since the whole of Birmingham was busy with the opening ceremony of the Games, they couldn't find a taxi and were stuck for about an hour. A controversy arose in this matter.
The Birmingham Commonwealth Games ceremony lasted for two and a half hours. Lovelina and Hussamuddin decided to leave the long ceremony early. Of course , they couldn't find any taxi. Three taxis were allocated for the Indian team. However, as all the players and officials came by bus for the inauguration, their taxi was not available there. Finally, they left for the village in a bus from the stadium. The distance from the stadium to the village was only half an hour by taxi. However, it took about an hour for Lovelyna and Husamuddin to reach the village. The Indian Chief of Mission expressed displeasure at this kind of behavior by the boxers.
Notably, Sandhya Gurung, the coach of Lavalina, was not allowed into the Commonwealth Games Village earlier. Due to which he criticized this in social media. After which his personal coach was given entry in the village in place of boxing team doctor. After this, the acting chief of the Indian Olympic Association also expressed his displeasure and advised the athletes to be patient.
