Cheteshwar Pujara scored a double century, breaking a 118-year-old record

Cheteshwar Pujara has continued his great form with a historic performance as the captain of Sussex. Pujara has scored three double centuries in a single county season. Pujara became the first player to do so in the 118-year history.

Let us tell you that by scoring a double century in his first match against Middlesex (Middlesex vs Sussex) in the county cricket match there on Wednesday, he brought his team to a strong position. Pujara completed his century yesterday. He opened with 115 in the morning and by lunch was 143 off 263 balls. In this match being played at Lord's, Sussex scored 489 runs for 8 wickets. Pujara hit 19 fours and 2 sixes during his innings.

Pujara was handed the Sussex captaincy due to Tom Haynes being injured. This is Pujara's fifth century in seven county matches this season, a key member of the Indian Test team. Pujara put on a 219-run partnership for the third wicket with Tom Aslop (135) after Sussex lost two wickets for 99 runs. Indian fast bowler Umesh Yadav playing for Middlesex has so far conceded 58 runs in 23 overs and has not got a wicket.
