Cheteshwar Pujara continued his brilliant form in county cricket by scoring a double century in the first innings of his first match as the captain of the Sussex team. Along with this, he scored more than 100 for the fifth time in the seventh match of this season of county cricket. Pujara, who came to play against Middlesex as the captain of Sussex County, scored 231 runs in 403 balls with 21 fours and 3 sixes.
In the county championship match that started at Lord's, Sussex County scored a huge score of 523 runs in the first innings against Middlesex. Pujara was made captain after Sussex captain Tom Haines was injured. Pujara was not out for 115 runs on the first day. He completed a double century on the second day's play. He shared a partnership of 219 runs with Tom Alsop (135).
Pujara returned to the dressing room at Lord's after scoring a double century in the first innings of his first match as Sussex County captain to a rousing welcome from the club members and cricketers and support staff in attendance. Indian bowler Umesh Yadav was also included in the Middlesex team. He gave 70 runs for no wicket in 29 overs.
