Two-time Olympic champion PV Sindhu has been made the flag bearer along with hockey team captain Manpreet Singh. This time the Olympic gold medalist and javelin thrower (javelin throner) was supposed to be the flag bearer but has pulled out due to injury. In such a situation this responsibility has been assigned to Sindhu and Manpreet.

Manpreet has been selected as the second flag bearer. The Birmingham Commonwealth Association had already told all countries that they would have to choose 2 people as flag bearers. There should be one woman and one man. This was stated by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) in its statement.
