Commonwealth Games gold medal favorite Neeraj withdrew due to injury

Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, who gave India a historic silver medal in the World Athletics Championship, was injured. Neeraj was injured in the fourth throw of the World Athletics in which he managed a distance of 88.13 meters to win the silver medal. Of course , India lost a sure-fire gold medal as defending champion Neeraj pulled out of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games. Due to which Indian fans are also disappointed.

Neeraj Chopra is currently staying in America and took a doctor's advice there. Neeraj suffered a muscle pull injury in the groin area. Which was scanned. Based on his report, the doctor has advised Neeraj to rest for a month. Due to this, Neeraj will not participate in the Commonwealth Games.

Indian Olympic Association Secretary General Rajeev Mehta said that Neeraj Chopra called me and said that due to the injury sustained in the World Championship, my medical team has advised me to rest for a month. Because of which I cannot participate in the Common Wealth Games. It is significant that Neeraj won gold medal for India in javelin throw in the last Commonwealth Games played at Gold Coast, Australia in 2018.

Now India will have to look for a new flag bearer in the Commonwealth Games. Neeraj was to handle this responsibility. However, as he is injured, the Indian team will soon announce the name of the new flag bearer.
