IND vs WI: India beat West Indies by 3 runs, Siraj-Sanju brilliant

New delhi date. 23 July 2022, Saturday

The Indian team has started the feast of the game with a victory in the West Indies tour. Team India has defeated West Indies by 3 runs in the first match of the 3-match ODI series. Apart from Shikhar Dhawan, the main heroes of this victory are fast bowler Mohammad Siraj and wicketkeeper Sanju Samson.

After an innings of 97 runs, Dhawan emerged as the player of the match. But Siraj did not allow the Windies team to score 15 runs in the last over and turned the match around. In the last over, Samson also made a great dive and scored 4 runs. If Samson could not do that, the match would be out of hand.

Chasing a target of 309 runs in the match, the Windies team scored 294 runs for 6 wickets in 49 overs. The team then needed 15 runs to win in the last over and Romario Scheffert was playing at the crease with 31 and Aqeel Hussain scoring 32 runs.

Sanju saved the match by diving

Then Mohammad Siraj, who took the last over, allowed only 11 runs. Siraj had only one boundary (4) in that over which was hit by Scheffert. However, the thing to watch is that the Windies team needed 8 runs from the last 2 balls. At that time, Shepherd was tactically playing too far back on the leg side. At that point Siraj followed Shepherd and bowled the ball towards leg but it went too far to the lead side.

Because of this, the ball went wide and was about to go for a four, when wicketkeeper Sanju Samson dived with all his might. Sanju showed his stretch and took the ball quickly and Windies could only get one run of the wide. If it was 4 then they would have got 5 runs.. then only 3 runs would have been needed to win in the last 2 balls but Sanju stopped 4 and took the match.
