Team India beat West Indies by three runs in the first ODI with the last ball of Mohammad Siraj's winning performance in the midst of great tension in the last over. Windies managed to score 305 runs for six wickets against a target of 309 to win in the ODI which ended late yesterday night. Windies needed a six to win off the last ball or a four to take the match into the super over. However, India won by 3 runs as Shepherd could only manage one run. Siraj , Chahal and Thakur took 2 wickets each. While Myers scored 75 , King scored 54 and Burks scored 46.
Indian captain Dhawan was declared player of the match for his innings of 97 runs. Windies needed 15 runs to win in the last over. After the first dot ball, Hossain took a leg-bye run and gave Shepherd a strike. He hit a four and then took two runs. Now Windies needed 8 runs to win on the last two balls. Then Siraj bowled a wide and after that gave away two runs. Of course , he managed to win the team on the last ball.
Myers and Brooks added 117 runs from 114 balls for Windies. After that, Pooran and King shared a partnership of 51 runs. While King and Hossain put on 56 runs in 48 balls and between Hossain (32 runs) and Shepherd (39* in 25 balls), an unbeaten 53 runs partnership was recorded in 33 balls.
