Neeraj Chopra has brightened India's name on the world stage today. Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra won silver medal in javelin throw at World Athletics Championship. However, they will not be able to participate in the Commonwealth Games to be held now.
According to reports, Neeraj Chopra has been ruled out of the Commonwealth Games due to injury. Neeraj was injured during the finals of the World Athletics Championship. Speculations were already rife as to whether he would be able to participate in the Commonwealth Games due to this injury. Although Neeraj was hopeful that he would recover before the Commonwealth Games and be able to participate, the injury forced him out of the Commonwealth Games.
Neeraj injured his thigh while throwing 88.13 meters in the final of the World Athletics Championships. Following the injury, the Indian Olympic Association today admitted that Neeraj is out of the Commonwealth Games, but Neeraj's family members are yet to confirm the same.
Javelin was scheduled to begin on August 5 at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Its final will be held on August 7. The men's javelin throw qualifying round will be played on August 5, while the final will be played on August 7, but with Neeraj's exit, gold medal hopes are dimmed in the Games.
In the recently played World Athletics Championship, Neeraj created history by winning a silver medal. He became the first Indian male athlete to win a medal at the World Athletics Championships.
