Dhananjaya D.Silva scored his ninth Test century of his career at number seven and scored 109 runs off 171 balls with 16 fours as Sri Lanka set Pakistan a target of 508 runs to win the second Test. At the end of the game, Pakistan scored 89 runs for 1 wicket.
Sri Lanka declared their second innings 360 for 8 today. Adding a lead of 147 runs, Pakistan got a target of 508 runs.
d. Silva and Karnaratne (61) put on a 126-run partnership for the sixth wicket and then D. Silva and Ramesh Mendis (45) registered a partnership of 82 runs in the eighth wicket and created a tough challenge for Pakistan.
In the first test, Pakistan failed to win the target of 342 runs, but Sri Lanka did not dare to declare the second innings early.
Pakistan have made a strong start in the second innings and Sri Lanka will have to bowl well to bowl them out on the final day tomorrow. If Pakistan wants to win, they have to score another 419 runs. Pakistan has a 1-0 lead in the series.
