Women athletes Dhanalakshmi and Aishwarya Babu, who were part of the Indian team for the Commonwealth Games, have failed dope tests , leading to their expulsion from the Indian team. Both the athletes have been suspended with immediate effect after testing positive for banned drugs.
Both the athletes were included in the 37-member Indian squad for the Commonwealth Games starting July 28 in Birmingham. Dhanalakshmi failed two out-of-competition tests. While Aishwarya failed in two in competition tests.
Dhanalakshmi was named in the Indian team for the women's 100m race and the 4 x 100m relay race. His first dope test was taken by World Athletics' Integrity Unit during a training camp held in Turkey in April-May. While the second test was taken by the National Anti-Doping Agency on July 22. Both of which were found to be anabolic steroids. When Aishwarya Babu's dope test was taken in the inter state meet. In which ostarine was found. which strengthens the muscles more and has been banned.
India replaced Dhanalakshmi in the women's 4 x 100m relay team by MV. Jilna has been included. He was accompanied by Duti Chand , Hima Das , Srabani Nanda and S.S. Will connect with Simi.
