Gujarat's Vishwa Vasanawala, who recently became the Women's International Master, has been included in India's third women's chess team for the Chess Olympiad, making Vishwa the first player in the history of Gujarat to participate in the Chess Olympiad. Significantly, Chess Olympiad is going to be organized from 28th July in Mahabalipuram near Chennai. In which India will field three teams in the women's competition , out of which Vishwa was selected in the third team. Vishwa is currently participating in the ongoing tournament in Serbia.
More than 1700 players from 350 teams of the world are going to participate in Chess Olympiad. Vishwa Vasanawala of Ahmedabad has made a remarkable appearance in international and national competitions. Vishwa's journey as a chess player is followed by his mother. Sheetalben and father Rada. Hiteshbhai's contribution was also significant. Vishwa's chess journey took place at the Corporation's chess center in Kankaria under the guidance of Gujarat's first international chess player, Nirav Rajasuba. They took his talent to the national and international level. Vishwa is currently being mentored by Alexander Goloshapov from Ukraine. Vishwa is currently studying in Best High School in class-12 science stream and has also been included in Shaktidut Yojana of Sports Authority of Gujarat. Gujarat State Chess Association executive member Ajay Patel along with Rakesh Shah and Bhavesh Patel also congratulated Vishwa on her achievement.
Gujarat's first grandmaster Tejas Bakre captained the India three team
Gujarat's first grandmaster Tejas Bakre has also been selected as the captain of India's third men's team for the Chess Olympiad. Grand Master Suryashekhar Ganguly , Karthikeyan Murali , S.P. Sethuraman , Abhijeet Gupta and Abhimanyu Puranik. Notably , Chess Olympiads have a non-playing captain , who acts as a coach.
