World Athletics: India's Anu Rani enters final of women's javelin throw event

India's 29-year-old javelin thrower Anu Rani, with a throw of 59.60 meters, qualified for the finals of the ongoing World Athletics Championship in Eugene, USA. Now he will enter the real competition with the top 12 contestants of the world. This is Anu Rani's second World Championship final.

Anu didn't get off to a good start and fouled the very first throw. After which he achieved a distance of 55.35 meters in the second throw. At this stage, his chances of qualifying for the final seemed slim. However, he did well in his third and final attempt to throw 59.60m and qualified for the final. Anu Rani was given the eighth position in the top-12.

Japan's Haruka Kitaguchi took the top spot in qualifying with a throw of 64.32 meters in the first throw. While China's Liu Shiying got the second place with 63.86 meters. Lithuania's Livta Jasiunite finished third in qualifying with a throw of 63.80m.

Anu Rani finished eighth in the 2019 World Championship

Anurani also made it to the finals of the women's javelin throw event at the last World Athletics Championship in 2019. In the World Championship played in Doha, Anu Rani qualified for the final with a throw of 62.43 meters. While in the final, she finished eighth with a throw of 61.12 meters.

Parul Chaudhary finished 31st in the 5000m race

India's Parul Chaudhary finished 31st out of 37 competitors in the 5,000m race. Two of the 37 contestants could not finish the race. Parril Chaudhary took 15 minutes and 54.03 seconds. The top 15 players qualified for the finals. In which the top position was given to Latesenbet Jide of Ethiopia. He clocked 14 minutes and 52.27 seconds.
