The star Indian men's doubles pair of Satwik Sairaj Ranki Reddy and Chirag Shetty won the bronze medal at the World Badminton Championship 2022 on Saturday. Satviksairaj and Chirag had to settle for the bronze medal after losing 22-20, 18-21, 16-21 to Malaysia's Aaron Chiay and Soh Wooi Yik.

This is India's second medal in doubles at the World Championships. Earlier, the pair of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa won the women's doubles medal in 2011. This is India's first and 13th overall medal in men's doubles at the World Championships.

This is Satwik and Chirag's sixth straight defeat against the Malaysian duo. They also lost to the pair in the joint team final at the Commonwealth Games earlier this month. However, the Indian pair's performance at the World Championships has been impressive and they have secured a medal. Since 2011, India has always won medals in this competition.

With PV Sindhu winning a gold medal in 2019, she has bagged a total of 5 medals in this competition while Saina Nehwal has won a silver and a bronze medal. Apart from that, Kidambi Srikanth won silver while Lakshya Sen, B Sai Praneet and Prakash Padukone won bronze medals.
