Despite not playing a single tennis match in the last 14 months, Federer earned around Rs 719 crore (approximately $9 million) a year and became the top earner in the tennis world. Federer was named the highest-paid tennis star for the 17th year in a Forbes magazine list.
Federer, 41, has not played in a tournament since Wimbledon last year. He underwent surgery on a knee injury and is now gearing up for a comeback. Forbes wrote that most of Federer's earnings came from advertising, appearance fees and other businesses.
Japan's Naomi Osaka is second in this list. Osaka, who has won four Grand Slams, earned $5.62 crore (roughly Rs. 550 crore) last year. Notably , Osaka has also not won a single major tournament since the 2021 Australian Open. He has started a new media company with LeBron James.
Serena Williams is in third place with $3.51 crore (Rs. 280 crore). While Nadal is fourth with $3.14 million (Rs. 251 crore) and Djokovic is in fifth place with $2.71 million (Rs. 217 crore).
