However, former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar does not agree that players should take a break from international matches by complaining about the workload. Many times he has openly said that if you really want to manage the workload then don't play in the IPL. Relax but don't excuse yourself from national duty. Kuwait had completed their qualifying round with four points from 3 matches with two wins. Singapore lost all three matches and crashed out of the race. UAE Hong Kong went down in the final match of the qualifying round with two points from two matches. If they win against Hong Kong, Hong Kong , Kuwait and its trio will get four points each and whoever has the higher net run rate will qualify. In which Kuwait was the favorite with a run rate of 1.627. But if Hong Kong wins outright, they will have six points and qualify. Hong Kong did just that, defeating the UAE by eight wickets in the final decider of the qualifying round.

The Hong Kong team has Mumbai-born 27-year-old Kinchit Dewang Shah, who is a left-handed batsman and wicketkeeper. Apart from this, 20-year-old Ayush Shukla is a right-handed fast bowler. Most of the four teams have settled players from India, Pakistan , Bangladesh.

Score : UAE 147 all out in 19.3 overs (Captain Rizwan 49 , Farid 41 , Ehsan Khan 24 for 4 and Ayush Shukla 3 for 30) lost to Hong Kong: 149 for 2 in 19 overs (Captain Nazakat Khan 39 , Murtaza 58 , Hayat 38 not out) )
