Shahbaz's inclusion in the Indian squad for the ODI series against Zimbabwe

Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar was ruled out of the three ODI series against Zimbabwe due to injury. Now the Indian selectors have included Shahbaz Ahmed in the ODI team in place of Sundar. Shahbaz was given a place in the India team for the first time. The 27-year-old Shahbaz plays first-class cricket for Bengal and is an effective middle-order batsman as well as a Leffert arm-spinner.

Washington was playing in the prestigious Royal London Cup One Day Tournament when he injured his left shoulder. He dived in an attempt to block the boundary and was injured. Now Ahmad will take his place. Ahmad's batting average in first class cricket is 41.64. While the bowling average is 19.47. While List-A means his batting average is 47.28 and bowling average is 39.20 in home ODIs.

The first ODI of the series will be played between India and Zimbabwe on 18th. After that, the second ODI will be played on the 20th and the third ODI on the 22nd. All matches will be held in Harare.
