Sri Lanka included Dinesh Chandimal in the T20 squad for the Asia Cup. Sri Lanka have also included left arm fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka and faster Asitha Fernando in the squad. While all-rounder Dhananjaya de Silva and Jeffrey Vanderse also made a comeback in Sri Lanka's T20 team.
Asia Cup was hosted by Sri Lanka. However , the Asia Cup was shifted to the UAE due to the chaos in Sri Lanka. Sandakan and Thusara were dropped along with Ramesh Mendis. Binura Fernando and Kasun Rajitha have not been selected in the squad due to injuries. In the Asia Cup, Sri Lanka will face Afghanistan in their first T20 on 27th August. While on September 1, their match will be played against Bangladesh.
Chandimal was earlier part of the team that toured Australia and India. However, he was dropped for the home series against Australia in June. However, he performed brilliantly in the Test series against Australia and Pakistan.
