After Deepak Chahar , Prasidh Krishna and Akshar Patel took three wickets each, Gill and Dhawan put on an unbeaten 192-run partnership as India won by 10 wickets in the first ODI against Zimbabwe. Against the Indian bowling attack, the Zimbabwean team was bundled out for 189 runs in just 40.3 overs. While India won without a wicket in 30.5 overs with the help of Gill's 72-ball 82 and Dhawan's 113-ball 81. With this, India took a 1-0 lead in the 3 ODI series.
With this, India won the 13th ODI match in a row against Zimbabwe. India last lost against Zimbabwe in 2010. However, from 2013 till now all the ODI matches played between the two countries were in the name of India. Significantly , India won the fifth ODI in a row with this. India won the last Manchester ODI against England. After which India won three ODIs in a row against West Indies. Meanwhile, K.L. Rahul registered his first win as a captain.
