Tsitsipas upset world number one Medvedev in the semi-finals to pull off a major upset.

Greece's fourth seed Tsitsipas created a major upset in the Cincinnati Masters semi-finals by defeating world number one Russian Medvedev 7-6 (8-6), 3-6 , 6-3 in three sets. Tsitsipas won after two hours and 23 minutes of competition. Now in the final, he will face Croatia's Borna Coric. Coric won 6-3 , 6-4 against Britain's Norrie in the second semi-final.

Coric is currently ranked 152nd in the world. He also became the highest-ranked player to enter the men's singles final at the Cincinnati Masters.

Tsitsipas, who was making his third consecutive Cincinnati Masters semi-final, reached the final for the first time. He entered the finals of Masters 1000 series hard court tournament for the second time in his career.

On the other hand, Coric maintained his excellent form. Coric, who created a sensation by defeating Nadal in the second round, had also defeated the likes of Agat and Aliasim in the earlier rounds.

The first semifinal of the Cincinnati Masters between Coric and Norrie was to be played in the afternoon and both players reached the court at 3 o'clock. However, due to rain, the match could start at 7.30 pm.

Title fight in Cincinnati between Kvitova and Garcia

Czech Republic's Petra Kvitova defeated American Madison Key 6-7(8-6) , 6-4 , 6-3 to enter the Cincinnati Masters women's singles final. With this, Kvitova entered the final for the 40th time in her career. Now in the final she will face Carolina Garcia of France who is playing the tournament as a qualifier. Garcia defeated Belarus' world number seven Sabalenka 6-2 , 4-6 , 6-1 in the semi-finals. With this, for the first time after the year 2009, a qualifier player entered the final of the WTA 1000 series. Garcia, ranked 35th in the world   Entered the final after defeating three players ranked in the top-10. Garcia also won against Sakkari and Pegula before Sabalenka.
