India's veteran badminton star H.S. Prannoy caused a major upset by defeating former two-time world champion Kento Momota in the second round of the World Badminton Championship. Prannoy won 21-17, 21-16 against Japanese player Momota, who is ranked second in the world ranking .
Now Prannoy will face Lakshya Sen of India in the third round of the World Badminton Championship i.e. the pre-quarter finals. Lakshya Sen, seeded ninth, won 21-17 , 21-10 against Spain's Penalvekar .
However, India's Kidambi Srikanth had to face defeat in the second round. Srikanth, the silver medalist of the previous world championship , was defeated by China's Zhao 9-21, 17-21.
