Gujarat starts with gold medal in National Games: Men's team champion in table tennis

Gujarat started with a gold medal in the National Games at home. In the table tennis men's team event, Gujarat won the gold medal by defeating Delhi 3-0 in the final. Gujarat international star Harmeet Desai along with Manav Thakkar and Manush Shah won all three singles in the final.

In keeping with the schedule of the World Championship of Table Tennis, the events under the National Games have already started before the official inauguration. While the opening ceremony of the National Games is to be held on 29th September. While the events will be held from 27th September to 10th October. Manav Thakkar of Gujarat defeated Sudhanshu Grover of Delhi by 3-0 in the men's table tennis final played today. While Gujarat captain and international player Harmeet Desai defeated Paius Jain by 3-0. Manush Shah defeated Yash Malik 3-0 to give Gujarat the gold medal.

Earlier, Gujarat advanced by defeating West Bengal 3-0 in the semi-finals. After trailing 1-2, Harmeet Desai made a strong comeback to defeat Anirban Ghosh 3-2 to send Gujarat into the semi-finals against West Bengal. After that, Manav Thakker defeated Ronit Bhanjan 3-0 and Manush Shah defeated Jeet Chandra 3-1 to give Gujarat entry into the final.

The men's table tennis teams of Maharashtra and West Bengal got bronze medals, while West Bengal won the gold in the women's team event. He defeated Maharashtra in the final. While Telangana and Tamil Nadu got bronze medals.
