Two more golds for Gujarat in table tennis: Harmeet in men's singles, Kritwika-Manush champion in mixed doubles

Gujarat's international table tennis star Harmeet Desai won the National Games title in men's singles and his wife Kritwika Sinha Roy along with young player Manush Shah in mixed doubles. Along with this, Gujarat won two more gold medals in National Games table tennis. In the medal table, Gujarat secured the second position by winning a total of 6 medals i.e. 3 gold and 3 bronze. West Bengal is at the top with a total of 8 medals with 4 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze.

The table tennis event under the National Games has ended early as the World Table Tennis Championship is scheduled to be held at the end of this month. While the National Games date will start from 29th September. A total of 7 gold medals were at stake in table tennis , of which four were won by Bengal and three by Gujarat.

Harmeet Desai gave an overwhelming performance to defeat top seed G. Sathian in the semi-finals after a 4-2 struggle. While in the second semi-final, Haryana's Soumyajit Ghosh defeated Manush Shah 4-2. Manush had to be satisfied with silver. While in the final, Harmeet Desai gave an impressive performance and defeated Soumyajit 4-0.

The pair of Kritwika Sinha Roy and Manush Shah defeated Telangana's pair of Sreeja Akula and FR Snehit by 3-0. Earlier, Gujarat also won the gold medal in the men's team event.
